Egypt are taking part in their tenth Junior World Cup competition overall and their sixth in succession, having achieved qualification with a second place finish at the Junior Africa Cup 2023 on home turf in Ismailia earlier this year. The Egyptians were pipped to the gold medal by perennial rivals and fellow Pool B opponents South Africa, who earned a 4-3 shoot-out win after regular time finished with the scores locked at 2-2. Ziad Adel top scored for Egypt in Ismailia, scoring three of his team’s six competition goals to help them claim the silver medal, with team captain Hossameldin Ragab being named as the player of the tournament. Egypt’s best finish in a Junior World Cup came in 1997 at Milton Keynes, England, where they were placed ninth.
