Christopher Zeller won the German player of the year contest for the second time in a row. The 22 years old player, earlier crowned as WorldHockey Young Player of the Year in 2006, earned just more votes that Moritz Furste.
Nadine Ernsting-Krienke won the women's German player of the year title. The contest for the best player in Germany was organized by the German Magazine ÔÇÿHockeyzeit', while all German hockey fans were able to vote.
Zeller, who scored the winning goal in the BDO World Cup final, was exited with the award. ÔÇÿThere was a lot of concurrence this year', he stated. ÔÇÿI am happy that the hockey fans recognized my achievement.'
Ernsting-Krienke won the title for the title for the first time. Although she already played for the German national team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, the 32 years old record national team player never was crowed as best player in her country. ÔÇÿThis is a complete surprise for me', she stated.
