The FIH today confirmed venue for the 7th Women’s Junior World Cup will be the Warsteiner Hockey Park in Mönchengladbach, Germany. The Deutscher Hockey Bund had been looking at a number of possible venues but opted for the now well established venue, which is also the site of their headquarters. The tournament will take place between Saturday 27 July and Sunday 4 August 2013, and both pitches at the venue will be fully used.

To date, Ghana and South Africa have qualified from Africa, China, India and Korea from Asia, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Netherlands and Spain from Europe and Argentina, Canada and USA from Pan America. The final two places will be known after the Oceania Junior Nations Championship, which will be held in Gold Coast City, Australia between 25 February and 3 March 2013. The current Junior World Champions are the Netherlands, who won the crown in Boston, USA in 2009.

“We are delighted to be returning to Mönchengladbach, the home of German hockey and to a venue that has hosted so many top events in its comparatively short life. I am very confident that we can look forward to the Deutscher Hockey Bund putting on yet another show case hockey event” said FIH President Leandro Negre.
