The English women's team played two matches against neighbor Scotland. While England won the first match 4-1, the second one ended in a 1-1 draw.

England defeated Scotland in the first of two practice matches in Manchester as preparations continue ahead of the Women's Champions Trophy in Sydney and the EuroHockey Nations Championship in Amsterdam this summer.

A Kate Walsh drag flick gave England a half time lead with Kerry Williams adding a second from close range after the break. Shortly after Scotland had pulled one back on 50 minutes, Hannah Macleod finished with a good deflection from a Chloe Rogers cross before Nicola White scored England's fourth after good work down the wing by Hannah Macleod.

In the second of the weekend's two practice matches against Scotland at Belle Vue in Manchester, England's women came from behind to draw 1-1.

Scotland had taken an early lead after a penalty corner effort from Catriona Forrest was deflected in off the stick of England defender Sam Quek but Alex Danson restored parity 15 minutes later with a reverse stick strike.

England's women will next be in action in two fixtures against Spain on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June 2009 at Highfields Sports Club in Nottingham.

No caps have been awarded for these matches.
