USA Field Hockey announced the team roster for the 2009 Men's Pan American Cup, to be held 5-15 March 2009 in Santiago, Chile.

The Pan American Cup pits the region's top nine teams in competition for a spot in the 2010 World Cup. The USA will face Argentina, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago and Uruguay in Pool A, while 2008 Olympic Games participants Canada highlight Pool B. The winner will qualify for the 2010 World Cup to be held in New Delhi, India, 7-20 March 2010.

The Pan American Cup team roster features a solid group of veteran players complemented by the next generation of USA Men's National Team stars. Pat Cota, Pat Harris and Jarred Martin combine for over 150 international caps, while Will Holt, Jonathan Ginolfi and Kevin Barber are among the athletes that took home the bronze medal at the 2008 Junior Pan Am Cup in Trinidad & Tobago. Kevin Segeren was named Best Goalkeeper in Trinidad.

This is the third Men's Pan American Cup tournament. Cuba claimed the first Cup in 2000, followed by Argentina in 2004. Canada finished second in both previous competitions. The highest finish for the United States is 5th in 2000.

USA Field Hockey is the national governing body for field hockey in the United States and is a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), the Federation Internationale de Hockey (FIH), and the Pan American Hockey Federation (PAFH). USA Field Hockey has approximately 19,000 members and supports programs designed to educate and promote the sport of field hockey, from its Futures program, designed for high school and college athletes, to Stick Starz, with curriculum geared to boys and girls aged 8-11.
