The EHF today announced that TSG Heilbronn, Germany was named the 2011 EuroHockey Club of the Year.
Only founded in 2006, they now have 250 people playing hockey in Heilbronn, most of them children. They work with an integrated concept that follows not only hockey targets but also general sports skills (fitness, coordination and fairness). They work with several sport specialists (physiotherapists, doctors, trainers from other sports)
Development Projects Chair Gerry Ralph said:
“The quality of entries this year was again very high. It was a very difficult decision to find a winner as each entry merited an award. EHF is delighted to see the work being achieved by key clubs from across Europe. As has been clearly shown by TSG Heilbronn well organised clubs attract players to hockey and tend to keep them in our sport for a long time. Europe’s club network is vital to the future growth and success of hockey. We thank all the clubs who entered the competition in 2011. They are all delivering great work that they and their National Association should be proud of. We look forward to presenting Heilbroon with their winning prize as soon as possible.
Vice President of the EHF, Carola Meyer had the pleasure of phoning Heilbronn this morning, they are thrilled. We will announce when Heilbronn will be awarded with their prize soon.
