The Euro Hockey League has always featured some of hockey’s hottest talents, with icons such as Teun de Nooijer, Pol Amat, Barry Middleton, Jamie Dwyer, Sohail Abbas and Moritz Fürste having worked their magic in the world’s greatest club competition.

The 2013-14 Edition of the tournament is no different. Here is a quick look at three of the big name players who are expected to shine during Round 1.2 Lille.

Jeroen Hertzberger – H.C. Rotterdam / Netherlands: Pacey forwards are the stuff of nightmares for most defenders, and there are few quicker than Netherlands ace Jeroen Hertzberger. The brilliant Rotterdam captain is one of the world’s most feared attackers, and will be looking to add to his record tally of 31 Euro goals in EHL competition this weekend in Lille.

Christopher Zeller – KTHC Rot-Weiss Köln / Germany: One of the true icons of hockey and the very definition of a “big game” player. Christopher Zeller is a sensational goal-scorer and penalty corner expert who has won every major prize in the sport, including two Olympic Gold medals (Beijing 2008 / London 2012).

Thilo Stralkowski – HTC Uhlenhorst Mulheim / Germany: Another member of Germany’s fearsome front line, Thilo Stralkowski is a towering figure on the field with a deadly eye for goal. The 26 year old Olympic Gold medallist has a reputation for scoring outrageous goals from seemingly impossible angles, and is expected to light up proceedings in Lille this weekend.

The Round 1.2 event in Lille will feature a total of 12 teams competing in four pools, all hoping to secure one of eight available places at Easter’s thrilling KO16 event.
