With the Tokyo 2020 Olympics edging closer, Japanese sports fans are being encouraged to register their interest in buying tickets to avoid missing out on witnessing the world’s best athletes in their homeland.
Ticket registrations for residents of Japan began in July 2018 and will be available until March 2019 via Tokyo 2020’s online platform https://id.tokyo2020.jp. The English language registration website will be open after spring 2019.
The prices of tickets range between JPY 12,000 to 300,000 for the opening and closing ceremonies. For hockey fans, the prices are listed between JPY 2500 to 10,000.
Taking place between 25 July and 7 August, the hockey events will be held at the new Seaside Park Hockey Stadium within Oi Central Seaside Park in the Shinagawa area of Tokyo.
Like Rio, this venue will contain two competition fields. With a 10,000 seat capacity the main field will host many matches including the medal games - the men's on the 6th and women's on the 7th of August 2020. A second field with 5,000 seats will also host a number of the Pool matches. With limited capacity, demand for tickets is therefore expected to be high.
The Hockey Revolution is certainly making its way to Japan, with the recently crowned Asian Champions gearing up to take advantage of their biggest opportunity to engage new fans since the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
With over 600,000 Japanese fans having already registered for various Olympic events, those who have not are being urged not to miss out and register their interest in buying tickets now.
