This week's player profile is the German superstar and FIH Player of the Year, Tobias Hauke. The 27-year-old midfielder has been a stalwart of the German team since 2006 and was a central figure in the teams that won Olympic Gold medals at both Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

Tobias's influence on the team continued in 2013 as Germany claimed victory in the Hockey World League semi final in Malaysia, before winning the TriFinance EuroHockey Nations Championships in Belgium, retaining the European title they won in 2011. Tobias has also enjoyed considerable success at the indoor version of the game. Just two months ago, he led his side, Harvestehuder, to victory at the EuroHockey Indoors Club Cup. The German national side are also currently the top-ranked indoor team in Europe.

With the World Cup less than two months away, the German team will be hoping that the FIH Player of the Year continues to live up to his billing.
