The TET Black Sticks Men and Women will be wearing pink shoe laces throughout the Oceania Cup in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The concept was sparked by Black Sticks defender Cory Bennett, who has seen the devastating effects of Breast Cancer first hand.

Both teams have embraced the pink laces and will stand together in support of the cause.

“Raising awareness of Breast Cancer is huge. Personally I’ve had people in my family who have been affected. I think everyone knows someone who has been affected,” Bennett said.

“It’s great the Black Sticks are able to come together and use their profile to raise awareness and hopefully get some donations in to help stop Breast Cancer and find a cure. It’s a great cause and hopefully something people get behind and we help out however we can.”

On average, Breast Cancer takes the lives of 650 New Zealand women each year while 2,800 women and 20 men are diagnosed every year.

Collectors will be on the ground at the TET MultiSports Centre in Stratford (Taranaki, New Zealand), while anyone can donate to the cause online at www.nzbcf.org.nz.
