Tai Beng Hai is back as chief coach of the Malaysian senior national team.
Beng Hai was the assistant to Stephen van Huizen for the last year. In 2009, he was the senior team coach but quit after 10 months.
Stephen, who handled the team for the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games last year, is now the co-ordinator for coaching for the national senior, Project 2013 and 2017 squads.
The change in the coaching set-up was decided at the MHF management committee meeting here yesterday.
The MHF president, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, said that the national senior team would come under the charge of Beng Hai with Nor Saiful Zaini as his assistant.
The target for the team is qualification for the London Olympics next year.
Tengku Abdullah added that George Koshy and M. Gobinathan would remain as manager and assistant manager of the senior team.
There is no change in the set-up of the Project 2013 squad with coaches K. Dharmaraj, K. Gobinathan and Nor Azlan Bakar retaining their positions.
The team for the 2017 Junior World Cup will have Lim Chiow Chuan as chief coach and he will be assisted by Lailin Abu Hassan.
ÔÇ£Our strategy is to strengthen the overall management and co-ordination of the national team on the the coaching structure,ÔÇØ said Tengku Abdullah.
For the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup tournament in May, the national team have the target to finish among the top four while for the Champions Challenge I in November, the target is to be among the top five.
