Dear athletes, dear hockey family,

We, the FIH Athletes' Committee, strongly believe that all athletes (and all humans for that matter) should have equal rights and should be allowed to be who they are, no matter their race, colour, gender, background, country of birth, religion or sexual orientation.

Bringing hockey to all parts of the world - like the FIH Hockey5s World Cup in the Sultanate of Oman, in 2024 - is important for the development of our beloved sport across the World and an excellent opportunity for both Omani teams to participate. However, in doing so we feel that the basic human rights of all our hockey community must be valued. All athletes, fans, coaches and officials should feel safe and be treated with dignity and respect.

We, therefore, expect that the Sultanate of Oman honour their statement towards our community and give the words they wrote meaning by fulfilling their promise to welcome and treat every individual equally – fulfilling the FIH’s Equally Amazing ambition, without any discrimination, before, during and after the tournament is finished for athletes, coaches, officials, and the public.

We are in dialogue about this subject with the FIH and committed to keep representing the voice of all athletes. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us.

With warm regards,

FIH Athletes’ Committee
