The Selection Committee of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced the 18 member Pakistan Hockey Team for World Cup Qualifying Round after one day trials at National Hockey Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan.
The Chairman of the Selection Committee Hassan Sardar along with members Rana Mujahid Ali, Khalid Bashir, Farhat Khan and Muhammad Shafiq said in a Press conference that it is a blend of Junior and Senior players and we hope that Pakistan will definitely qualify for the Hero Honda FIH World Cup.
The World Cup qualifying round will be held from 31 October-8 November in Lille, France. Pakistan, France, Poland, Italy, Russia and Japan will take part in the tournament.
The announce 18 members Pakistan Team is Salman Akbar and Nasir Ahmad (Goal Keepers), Zeeshan Ashraf (Captain), Sohail Abbas and Muhammad Imran (Vice Captain) (Full Backs), Muhammad Irfan, Wasim Ahmad, Sajjad Anwar, Fareed Ahmad and Muhammad Rashid (Half Backs), Rehan Butt, Shakeel Abbasi, Abdul Haseem Khan, Abbas Haider, Akhtar Ali, Waqas Sharif, Shafqat Rasool and Muhammad Zubair (Forwards).
