Pakistan Hockey Federation has named its team to compete at the men's Rabo Hockey Junior World Cup in Rotterdam from 29 June-10 July.

The 18-man squad contains four members of Pakistan's senior team that finished third at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup tournament in Kuala Lumpur earlier this month, including the exciting Shakeel Abassi, who won the player of the tournament award in Malaysia.

Before arriving in Rotterdam, the team will go to Brussels on 21 June and will play two international matches against Argentina and South Africa.

Pakistan has been seeded sixth for the tournament and are expected to challenge Pool C favourites Australia for top spot at the end of the first group phase.

Pakistan has a strong record at the Junior World Cup, with victory in the inaugural event in 1979 complemented by three bronze and one silver medal in the seven tournaments.

However they did not compete at the last edition of the tournament in Hobart, Australia, in 2001 as rivals India claimed the coveted title.
