There is just one day to go before the voting opens for the 2017 Hockey Stars Awards, where the public and athletes get the chance to vote for the players they feel have lit up the hockey scene this year.

There are three men’s and three women’s categories that are open to an online, public vote – Player of the Year (male and female); Goalkeeper of the Year (male and female); and Rising Star (male and female).

The nominations will be published tomorrow (1 December) on the FIH website and voting will also open tomorrow. You have until 14 January to get your votes in.

The nominated players (five in each category) have been selected for their performances and overall contribution to the game over the course of 2017 by a panel of experts comprising the FIH Athletes' Committee, Continental Federations, coaches and media.

The winners of these awards, plus the male and female Coach of the Year and the male and female Umpire of the Year will receive their awards at the annual Hockey Stars Awards event taking place in February 2018.

To make sure you make your voice heard, visit the FIH website to view the nominations and then vote via the website link (which goes live on 1 December). Over the coming weeks, FIH will publish articles outlining the incredible achievements of all our nominees, helping you decide which athletes deserve to be included on the 2017 roll of honour.
