The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced the nominations for the 2006 WorldHockey Women's Player of the Year awards.

2006 WorldHockey Women's Young Player of the Year
(under 23 age limit, as of 1 January 2006)

Esther TERMENS (ESP)
Naomi VAN AS (NED)

The nominations were decided by a survey of World Cup coaches and international media representatives.

The award winners will be determined by a ballot of players and coaches from the 12 competing teams at the Samsung Hockey World Cup currently being held in Madrid, Spain.

The awards will be presented by FIH President Els van Breda Vriesman on Saturday 7 October at approx. 17.05 during the half time interval of the fifth place playoff at the Samsung Hockey World Cup.
