Hockey New Zealand would like to acknowledge the retirement of umpire Jason McCracken - an internationally respected official who has given over 20 years of service to the sport of hockey.

McCracken (Auckland) has umpired at world level for over 10 years. His achievements include appointments to the 2004 Athens Olympics, the 2000 Sydney Olympics as well as several World Cups and Champions Trophies.

Hockey New Zealand Umpire Development Manager Craig Gribble said: ÔÇ£Jason has put New Zealand on the map in International Men's umpiring. He has been one of the world's most respected international umpires in recent years, and has given 20 years of service on a domestic level.ÔÇØ

Gribble said he would also like to acknowledge the retirement of International Indoor Hockey umpire Jeff Brown, of Palmerston North, who has given 20 years service domestically and five years internationally, including officiating at the most recent Indoor World Cup, in Germany.
