Thanks to a generous donation from Musco lighting, hockey can now be played around the clock in Nairobi, Kenya.
The lights were installed at the City Park hockey stadium in Nairobi.
ÔÇ£With the addition of these lights to the City Park facility, Nairobi now has what an arguably be called one of the finest hockey facilities in East and Central Africa,ÔÇØ said Resham Bains Chairman of the Kenya Hockey Union. ÔÇ£We are extremely grateful for the generosity of Musco lighting.ÔÇØ
The donation included a set of floodlights and a scoreboard worth around 100,000 USD. An official lighting ceremony was held on February 25 when the finals of a men's and women's NOCK-sponsored tournament were played.
On hand at to inaugurate the newly-lit facility was the Kenya Assistant Minister of Sports along with Seif Ahmed, President African Hockey Federation and Executive Board Members of Musco Lighting Company. All were delighted when the switch was flipped and hockey in Nairobi could be played under the night skies.
The donation was arranged through the African Hockey Federation on behalf of the Kenya Hockey Union.
