At the recently concluded FIH Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the torch was passed onto the next Congress host as it was announced that Marrakech, Morocco will host the next FIH Congress the first week of November in 2014 with the actual Congress day scheduled for November 1st. It was also announced at the same time that the 2016 FIH Congress will be held in Dublin, Ireland.

“We are extremely proud and excited to be given the opportunity to host the hockey world for the FIH Congress,” said Kamal Ghallali, president of the Royal Moroccan Hockey Federation. “I think the delegates will find Marrakesh to be a great host city that offers a lot beyond the busy meeting schedule.”

Dublin, Ireland is no stranger to hosting FIH events, with three tournaments being held in Ireland’s capital city in the last 18 months alone, including two Champions Challenge 1 tournaments and an Olympic Qualification tournament.

“It wasone of my goals as FIH president to seen the Congress move around to all of our Continental Federations,” said Leandro Negre. “The last two Congresses were in the United States, (PAHF), Switzerland (EHF) and Malaysia (AHF) and with Morocco (AfHF) and then later Ireland (EHF), we are well on the way to meeting that goal."

Delegates from both Morocco and Ireland made brief presentations to the delegates at the recently-concluded Congress which included a video presentation of the host cities, which can be viewed below.
