An incredible year for England women’s hockey team may well get even better as they are on the shortlist for the prestigious Sunday Times and Sky Sports Team of the Year Awards.
A dramatic 3-1 win over the world number one ranked side, the Netherlands, after going 2-0 down with just 10 minutes left to play, put the team firmly in the spotlight.
They are now in competition with Chelsea Ladies Football Club, the England Football team and the rowing duo of Helen Glover and Heather Stanning for the coveted prize.
The Awards, now in their 28th year, lead the way in celebrating success and outstanding contribution to sport in the UK by female players, coaches and administrators.
