The second edition of the ground-breaking, star-studded Hero Hockey India League is edging ever closer and the excitement is really beginning to build.

The latest news emerging from India about the thrilling event – which runs from 25th January to 23rd February and features new franchise Kalinga Lancers alongside season 1 participants Uttar Pradesh Wizards, Jaypee Punjab Warriors, Dabur Mumbai Magicians, Delhi Waveriders and 2013 champions Ranchi Rhinos – is the release of the match schedule.

The action begins on Saturday 25th January in Mohali, where Jamie Dwyer’s Jaypee Punjab Warriors play host to Sardar Singh’s Delhi Waveriders. Moritz Fürste’s Ranchi Rhinos, the defending champions begin their campaign on home soil against VR Raghunath’s Uttar Pradesh Wizards on Sunday, a day which will also features Jaypee Punjab Warriors playing their second match in Mohali against Darbur Mumbai Magicians, a team containing five Australian internationals.

Ranchi Rhinos and Delhi Waveriders meet on Monday 27th January in Ranchi, before Kalinga Lancers make their tournament debut against Jaypee Punjab Warriors on Tuesday 28th in Bhubaneswar. The Lancers have secured the services of a number of big name players for their shot at the title, including legendary New Zealander Ryan Archibald, ace Spanish defender Ramon Alegre and classy Argentinean duo Lucas Vila and Gonzalo Peillat.
