Following the election of Leandro Negre as President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and his subsequent resignation as President of the European Hockey Federation (EHF) and in accordance with the Statutes of the EHF, the Executive Board, at its meeting held in Brussels on the 8 and 9 October, unanimously agreed to appoint Martin Gotheridge (ENG) as President of the European Hockey Federation.

Martin, currently vice-President of the EHF takes on the role as President of the EHF until the election of a new President at the 21st General Assembly to be held in Amsterdam on 21August 2009.
