Malaysia has hit back from their 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Kookaburras to draw (3-3) in game three of their five match series in Kuala Lumpur. It was a game of two halves with the Kookaburras taking a 3-nil lead into the half time break.
Kookaburras captain Liam De Young opened the scoring at the 13 minute mark with a field goal, quickly followed by up and comer Chris Ciriello, converting a penalty corner two minutes later. Finishing off the Kookaburras dominant first half, Fergus Kavanagh slotted another field goal in the 31st minute.
The Malaysians took the opportunity to re-group at half time and came out with renewed intent. Within three minutes, the Malaysians were on the scoreboard thanks to Ahmad Tajuddin's field goal. As the second half progressed, both teams had opportunities to score, however it was Razie Abd Rahim who capitalized with the Malaysian's second field goal to put the game within reach. It looked as though the Kookaburras would continue their undefeated run in the series until the 68th minute when Malaysia's Mohan scored the equalizer through a penalty corner conversion.
The Kookaburras will have the opportunity to re-capture their winning form in game four on Saturday at Tun Razak Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.
