Argentine hockey superstar Luciana Aymar has suggested that she is planning to retire from international hockey following next summer’s Rabobank Hockey World Cup in The Hague, Netherlands.

“I love hockey, but I’m not ‘Highlander’”, laughed Lucha in an interview with journalist Josefina Chavez Diaz at the Pan Am Cup in Mendoza, making reference to the 1980s fantasy movie about the immortal Connor MacLeod. “I would love to play in the World Cup in The Netherlands, but it will be my last tournament.”

At the age of 36, it would come as no surprise if the seven times FIH Player of the Year did bring her staggering career to an end in The Hague. However, there are some who still believe that this remarkable athlete may have one more crack at adding an Olympic Gold medal to her amazing collection at the Rio 2016 Games. Only time will tell.
