Legendary Australian hockey player Jamie Dwyer is playing his part in the attempts to raise money for the relief effort following the flooding that devastated vast areas of Queensland in recent weeks.
The four time Men's FIH Player of the Year - who hails from Rockhampton, an area hit hard by the natural disaster - is auctioning off the shirt that he wore in The Kookaburra's 8-0 thrashing of India in the Gold medal match final of the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The shirt has been signed by the talismanic forward and also Ric Charlesworth, the coach has re-established Australia as the finest men's hockey team in the world.
Over the next two weeks, Dwyer will also be auctioning off three of his own Adidas JD-1 hockey sticks, which have also been signed by the HC Bloemendaal forward.
All funds from the sale of these items will be provided to the QLD Premiers Disaster Relief Fund, to assist those in Queensland affected by the disastrous floods.
