The Board of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Hockey Bond (KNHB) has decided not to renew the contract of Herman Kruis, head coach of the Dutch women's team.
Since his appointment in 2008, the Board has held evaluations after numerous tournaments. The evaluations focused on not only the results, but also the process leading to the optimal performance of the team. In consultation with Herman Kruis, the board has decided not to put into practice the option for another two years as coach.
The board of the KNHB realizes and appreciates that under Kruis' leadership the team achieved notable finishes at Champions Trophy tournaments (3rd Place - Sydney 2008 / 2nd Place - Nottingham 2010). The team also claimed the European title in Amsterdam last year and most recently achieved a second place finish at the World Cup in Rosario, Argentina. The Board believes that a change in approach is needed to enhance long term development and increase the likelihood of achieving an Olympic title.
The Board of the KNHB wishes to thank Herman Kruis for all his extraordinary efforts over the last two years, and will investigating together with him how he can continue to work with KNHB in the future.
