New Zealand's Junior Women's coach Coach Chris Leslie has named 18 players to travel to Brisbane in December for the Women's Junior World Cup Qualifier. The Junior Black Sticks Women will play Australia only as Fiji and Papua New Guinea have opted out of the tournament, meaning NZ and Australia will both qualify for the Women's Junior World Cup in Boston, USA in August 2009.

A feature of the junior women's team is four players with senior Black Sticks experience - Charlotte Harrison, Jasmin McQuinn, Gemma Flynn and Alana Millington. Flynn was a member of the Black Sticks team that competed in Beijing. Harrison will return from Belgium where she is currently playing club hockey.

There are ten players who were involved in the recent NHL women's final between North Harbour and Auckland.
