The President of the European Hockey Federation (EHF) Martin Gotheridge, was delighted to present the Member of Honour award to IOC Honorary President Juan Antonio Samaranch at a ceremony in Barcelona, Spain.

The Member of Honour Award was presented to Mr. Samaranch, who is also FIH Member of Honour, for his distinguished service and contribution to hockey.

ÔÇÿIt is a great honour for me to have the opportunity to present this award to Mr. Samaranch', EHF President Gotheridge said. ÔÇÿHe has been a loyal friend of hockey over many years and he has always respected the uniqueness of our sport and how we have worked hard to maintain the true spirit of Olympism not only on the field of play, but also in the work of our administrators. It is now our time to thank him for his support over the years, for engaging with us, and for your interest in the rules of our game.ÔÇØ

Mr. Samaranch thanked Mr. Gotheridge and accepted the award as Member of Honour of the European Hockey Federation.

The ceremony was also attended by FIH President Leandro Negre; former FIH President and FIH and EHF Member of Honour Juan Angel Calzado, EHF Vice-President Claire Peeters-Monseu, EHF Honorary General Secretary, R.David Balbirnie, EHF Executive Board Member Jorge Alcover, Real Federacion Espanola de Hockey President Santi Deo and Catalan Hockey Federation President Narcis Carrio.
