The Japan men's hockey team contacted Hockey New Zealand today announcing they are unable to play in the upcoming Malaysia Airlines Summer Series.

The Japan men's team was scheduled to arrive on Tuesday 8 February and play three games against the Black Sticks Men in Hamilton and Tauranga between the 16-22 February, but unfortunately they have cancelled their trip due to players being unavailable due to injury and personal commitments.

The cancellation has seen the Korea men's team jump at the opportunity to play more games against the Black Sticks.

Korea will now play two of the three games that the Black Sticks had scheduled against Japan.

The only test match that has been cancelled is the game on the 22 February in Tauranga.

More information can be found on the Hockey New Zealand website.
