The Irish Hockey Association is inviting applications for the permanent part-time (three days/week) position of Coach Development Manager. This key role is a newly-created position aimed at building a solid hockey coaching foundation to support the Association's new National Development Plan.

The Role

The role is based out of the IHA's south Dublin office and reports to the National Development Officer (NDO), working closely with the Chairs of the IHA's Coaching and Performance Committees. The successful candidate will:

Manage liaisons between the IHA and NCTC (soon to become Coaching Ireland)

Maintain a national coach database and prepare ongoing analysis for the Chairs of the Coaching and Performance Committees

Co-ordinate NCTC syllabus preparation and review with the IHA's technical specialist group

Help schedule coaching courses in the Irish hockey calendar and work with NDO and IHA Marketing Executive to encourage coaches to pursue coaching qualifications

Manage, develop and expand Irish hockey's tutor group

Develop coaching initiatives outside of the structured awards programme

Contribute to the coaching elements of the IHA's annual conference, Hooked!

Monitor international best practice in hockey coach education and feedback into domestic system.

Develop a range of IHA coaching resources including core skills CDs and manuals and distribute resources from other courses and workshops

Arrange coaching updates/workshops following major international tournaments to allow national coaches to deliver feedback to coaching community.

The ideal candidate will have;

Minimum Level 1 NCTC Coaching Award, or equivalent

A strong understanding of Irish coaching structures and awards within the sport of field hockey, particularly with regard to NCTC

Skills in the area of hockey coaching programme design and implementation

Understanding of how to work with volunteer groups and committees

Advanced communication skills, both written and oral

Exceptional organisational skills and an ability to multi-task and manage time effectively

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Energy, enthusiasm and a passion for the sport of hockey in Ireland

Goal and results-orientated

Attention to detail

IT literacy

The position will require frequent travel around Ireland and access to a private vehicle is a must.
