At its most recent meeting the board of the Irish Hockey Association reviewed the comprehensive report on the debrief process which was undertaken with both Senior Irish Hockey squads; post their EuroHockey Nations Championship campaigns.

This debriefing process is very thorough and detailed, providing both players and staff with the opportunity to give confidential feedback on all aspects of the completed tournament. At a later stage in the review process players and staff are divided into groups, facilitated by an independent individual, enabling the identification of what had worked well in the run up and through the duration of the tournament as well as what had not worked so well to help devise an action plan to correct or amend the program going into the future.

The board are extremely appreciative of the effort and commitment that has been shown by both squads and staff throughout the past year and of the commitment that they continue to display at all levels.

There was agreement among the board that it was a significant achievement for the Senior Women to maintain Division A status in Europe with a relatively inexperienced squad. While there was disappointment at the fact that the Senior Men were relegated to Division B, there was an acknowledgement that the performance levels against Spain and the Netherlands were exceptional and that the men had achieved two draws and a narrow defeat against three top 10 countries.
Commenting after the meeting was Chairman, John Dennis ÔÇ£The board would like to take this opportunity to thank the players and staff of both squads for their continued commitment to Irish Hockey. We would also like to express our support to them in the forthcoming months as they continue to prepare for the Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.ÔÇØ
