India have qualified for the final of the Indira Gandhi Gold Cup final after edging New Zealand 2-1 to remain undefeated in the tournament.
All of the goals were scored in the final 20 minutes of the match, with India grabbing a two-goal advantage when Saba Anjum and Sanggai Chanu scored in the 50th and 60th minutes.
New Zealand were able to reduce India's lead to one but couldn't find another goal to draw level. The Black Sticks must now win their last round match to have any hope of contesting the final.
India play Australia in their last preliminary round match before the final. Australia is favoured to join them in the tournament decider after producing a comfortable 4-1 win over Italy in the day's earlier match.
Australia built their match-winning lead in the first half, with Sarah Taylor, Nikki Hudson and Angie Skirving scoring before the break the Hockeyroos a 3-0 lead. Skirving added a second soon after half time before Italy grabbed a consolation goal five minutes before the end of the match to bring the score to 4-1.
A draw or win against India on Thursday would guarantee Australia reaches the final against the home team.
