Reigning Euro Hockey League champions HC Bloemendaal, Germany's Rot-Weiss K├Âln and Amsterdam H&BC all sealed their places as Pool winners at Round 1.2, being played on the outskirts of Paris. However, it was a sad day for host club St Germain HC who found themselves eliminated from the EHL following a defeat against Beeston HC of England. The event had been magnificently organised and promoted by the club, with large crowds packing into the venue on each of the three tournament days.
You can find a brief summary of the action below, with extensive reports available on www.ehlhockey.tv - the official website of the Euro Hockey League.

POOL D
ZELLER HAT-TRICK GIVES ROT-WEISS KÖLN NARROW VICTORY OVER EGARA

Christopher Zeller scored his eighth, ninth and tenth goals of this season's Euro Hockey League season to give Germany's Rot-Weiss K├Âln a narrow victory over Club Egara of Spain. Egara made their illustrious opponents give everything that they had in order to claim the win, but Zeller - the outstanding performer of the weekend - proved to be the difference between the two sides. The result was good enough to ensure that Rot-Weiss K├Âln go into the draw for Round 2 as Pool winners, with Egara being forced into second place.

POOL C
EIKELBOOM SCORES TWICE AS AMSTERDAM TOP POOL C

It was a day to remember for veteran Olympian Gold medallist Martin Eikelboom, who netted twice in Amsterdam H&BC's 6-0 victory over KS AWF Poznan of Poland. The 36-year-old, who returned to the Amsterdam first team line-up this week after a lengthy absence, was in great form throughout the early afternoon match as his injury-hit team produced a solid performance to win Pool C. The result was bad news for KS AWF Poznan, who have been eliminated from the 2009-10 season of the Euro Hockey League.

POOL A
MEIJER GIVES BLOEMENDAAL CRUCIAL WIN OVER ALSTER
Nick Meijer scored twice as HC Bloemendaal recorded a hard fought 2-1 victory over Germany's Der Club an der Alster. Meijer opened the scoring in the first period following brilliant work from Australian Olympic Gold medallist Jamie Dwyer, but Pepe Borrell levelled the scores in second period with a well taken reverse stick effort. However, Meijer claimed his second of the match moments after Borrell's equaliser which proved to be the winning goal. The result confirmed HC Bloemendaal as the winners of Pool A, forcing Alster into second place.

POOL F
ST GERMAIN SUFFER LATE HEARTBREAK AT THE HANDS OF BEESTON

Beeston's Wayne Rowland broke St Germain hearts with a late winner to give his team two wins out of two in Pool F. The midfielder forced the ball over the line from close range, giving the English team all five points whilst securing top spot in the pool for good measure. It was the most dramatic of finishes to the final match of a brilliant Euro Hockey League Round 1.2 event. The result meant that host club St Germain have been eliminated from the 2009-10 season of the EHL.
