The Grand Masters Hockey World Cup for players of 60 years and over will be held in Hong Kong from 12th to 21st September. This is a tournament sanctioned by FIH.

There are three separate tournaments - one for over 60s, one for over 65s and a separate friendly tournament, called the Tournament Trophy, for a selection of other teams. The following teams will be participating:

  • Over 60s: Australia, England, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Scotland, South Africa
  • Over 65s: Australia, England, Germany, Japan, Scotland, Australia over 70s
  • Tournament Trophy: Germany B, England LX, Alliance 1, Alliance 2, Malaysia/Singapore (Good Bad and the Ugly)

A full match schedule is shown in the attachment, and virtually all games will be played in the morning or late afternoon/evening at either HKFC or Happy Valley. Matches will be played in quarters of 17.5 minutes each.

The official tournament opening ceremony will be held on the HKFC pitch at 5.30 p.m. on Thursday 11th September.

Matches are open to the public and hockey players, in particular, are most welcome. The quality of hockey may surprise some of you!
