A core group of experienced players led by Captain Madonna Blyth were outstanding and showed how important they will be at the London Olympics.
Hockeyroos Coach Adam Commens said their ability to play at the highest level was unquestioned.
"Jodie Schulz was a dominant force at the back, Madonna Blyth controlled midfield and Kobie McGurk as sweeper proved a solid combination," Commens said.
The Hockeyroos started well and Schulz opened the scoring sending home a penalty corner drag flick at the 19 minute mark, before Megan Rivers scored a field goal to make it 2-0 at the break.
After a good start to the second half, Commens said his team dropped off, a lapse that could cost them a medal at the Games.
"We still need to improve our efficiency inside the attacking circle there was potential to score a lot more goals and we need to put 70 minutes together not 55," he said.
Despite this, Georgia Nanscawen sent home a brilliant diving deflection and a solo run from Casey Eastham resulted in an outstanding conversion to round out the scoring.
In the day's other match, the women of India were defeated 2-1 by host nation New Zealand. Anita Punt (3rd minute) and Katie Glynn (24th minute) scored for the winning team, while Anuradha Devi Thokchom found the mark for India in the 40th minute.
