Jaap Stockman (Netherlands)
Jaap Stockman is a calm, collected presence in the Netherlands goal. For a man well over six-foot tall, he is incredibly athletic, diving to reach shots with the swiftest of reactions. He was voted Best Goalkeeper at the Hero Hockey World League Final in Raipur, India, on the back of some fantastic performances and he was also part of the team that won gold at the EuroHockey Championships 2015.
David Harte (Ireland)
Ireland has qualified for its first ever Olympic Games since 1908 and no-one will begrudge much of the credit going to David Harte, the Green Machine’s goalkeeper and captain. Harte’s performances in the FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final in Antwerp, Belgium ensured both a fighting chance for Ireland to get to Rio and his own position as Best Goalkeeper. It was an accolade that he picked up again at the EuroHockey Championships 2015 when Ireland won a bronze medal, beating England in the process, Ireland's first medal at a major international event.
David Carter (Canada)
Canada’s David Carter produced some fantastic goalkeeping heroics in Hockey World League Round Two, Argentina Hockey World League Semi-Final and the Hero Hockey World League Final. His performances were a textbook demonstration of keeping your cool. Player of the Match against Australia in the Hero Hockey World League Final and Best Goalkeeper at the Argentina Hockey World League Semi-Final in Buenos Aires, Carter has enjoyed a great year, with the ultimate prize – Olympic qualification – as the reward.
Andrew Charter (Australia)
When your team is as dominant as the Kookaburras have been for the past two years, it is difficult to shine as a goalkeeper, but as the Australia team knows, the man between the sticks is the foundation you build an attack from. Andrew Charter has just celebrated 100 caps for his country and in that time, he has won the 2014 World Cup, the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the 2015 and 2013 Oceania Cup and the 2015 Hero Hockey World League Final.
Nicolas Jacobi (Germany)
Nicolas Jacobi is the rock upon which the German team build their attack. The ‘keeper has only been a member of the national squad since 2012 and during that time he has represented his country more than 75 times, picking up Champions Trophy gold as well as silver at the EuroHockey 2015 Championship. With Jacobi in sparkling form, Germany won the Argentina Hockey World League Semi-Final in Buenos Aires and, while his team only managed a seventh place finish at the Hero Hockey World League Final, Jacobi also put in some exceptional performances in Raipur, India.
