One year ago today, it was the final day of the women's Olympic tournament at London 2012's Riverbank Arena. We take a look back at the hockey's own Super Saturday.

In the big Olympic Final, the Dutch painted the Riverbank orange in the women's Final winning their fourth gold medal and defending their Beijing title. Carlien Dirkse van den Heuvel and Maartje Paumen scored second half goals to get the better of Argentina 2-0 with a superbly controlled performance.

For Argentina, it was a fourth successive medal but the ultimate prize continued to elude them, as the Leonas picked up silver on the day that legendary team captain Luciana Aymar also celebrated her 35th birthday.

Prior to the Final, in the curtain raiser to the women’s main event, Great Britain picked off their first medal since 1992 as their corner prowess undid New Zealand 3-1. Their fourth place was nonetheless the Kiwis' best ever Olympic placement.

In the match for fifth place, Australia defeated China 2-0, and in the day's fourth match, the Belgian women capped off their first ever Olympic appearance with a win over the USA that gave them eleventh place.
