Men's Indoor World Champion Germany has named a strong preliminary squad for the FIH Indoor World Cup 2011, which takes place in the Polish city of Poznan from 8-13 February. Germany will be aiming to win their third successive FIH Indoor World Cup title, following triumphs at Leipzig 2003 and Vienna 2007.
The initial squad of 16 features a number of the world's finest talents of the outdoor game, incuding Christopher Zeller, Matthias Witthaus, Moritz F├╝rste and FIH Young Player of the Year 2010 Tobias Hauke. Witthaus, F├╝rste and Hauke were all named in the FIH All Stars team of 2010, and are joined by another member of that squad in the shape of top defender Maximillian M├╝ller.
Tim Jessulat, who was the goalkeeper at the Hero Honda FIH World Cup in Delhi, also features as well as Nicolas Jacobi, goalkeeper of Uhlenhorster Hockey Club Hamburg, the reigning champions of the Euro Hockey League. 2009's U21 World Champions Pilt Arnold and Martin Zwicker will also show their indoor hockey skills at the event in Poznan.
The current preliminary squad of 16 will be reduced to 12 ahead of the tournament.
