Four teams are still in contention for Sunday's final after matches on day four did little to decide the top two teams at the men's Sahara Hockey Champions Trophy in Terrassa.

Netherlands and Spain ended the day with a share of the lead as the competition remains evenly balanced, with Australia and Germany within reach to take advantage if either tournament leader slips in Saturday's finish to the preliminary round matches.

To make the final round more appetising, the Netherlands meet the home team in the second match on Saturday and will then watch from the stands as Australia battle Germany.

In today's matches, Germany and Netherlands drew in a match that featured fluctuations in momentum as each team took the initiative and were then forced onto the backfoot. At the end of the match however, three goals apiece signalled a fitting result.

Spain appeared to have wasted a chance to move into an equal share of the lead when they conceded a goal two minutes before full time against Pakistan. However Sergi Enrique's great strike from the top of the circle nine seconds before the siren saved the home team and moved them into an equal share of the competition lead with their opponents on Saturday.

Enrique might be the most pivotal moment of the tournament for Spain if it puts them into their second Champions Trophy final in three years.

In the final match on day four, Australia was dominant in its victory over Argentina, with the defending champions never seriously threatened as positioned themselves just one point behind the top two teams.

Importantly for Australia, the large margin of victory over Argentina improved their goal difference, a factor that might be significant at the end of Saturday's play.

Tomorrow (Friday) is the final rest day in the tournament before play recommences on Saturday.
