Piet Duinker, former Director General of the Royal Dutch Hockey Association (KNHB), has passed away at the age of 89.

Duinker was Director General of the KNHB from 1966 to 1 October 1983. The KNHB has been transformed into a professional organization under his leadership.

Before joining the KNHB, Duinker has been professional sports journalists for different media in Netherlands, including chief sports editor of the Dutch National News Agency ANP. Duinker has played hockey for Strawberries in Velsen and Hdm in The Hague.
