The Port Moresby Pacific Games came to a close on Saturday with Hockey 5s also culminating on the same day.  With gold, silver and bronze medals on offer, the day was full of action and excitement.

Fiji men and women lead from the start and finished the Hockey 5s with gold medals for the men and women’s teams.

In the women’s event, Fiji women played Papua New Guinea (PNG) for the gold medal while Vanuatu women took on Tonga for the bronze medal.  With goals being scored at both ends, it was finally Fiji who took gold, PNG silver and Vanuatu the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, it was Fiji men again contesting the gold medal this time playing Vanuatu who had to settle for silver.  PNG playing the Solomon Islands collected another medal – this time a bronze as they beat the Solomon Islands in the bronze match.

With large crowds and lots of goals, Hockey 5s was a huge success at the XV Pacific Games.
