Regarding the awards themselves, 2009 FIH Player of the Year Jamie Dwyer recently expressed his delight at making the shortlist again.
It is amazing to be nominatedÔÇØ, said the 31-year-old attacker to journalists at Round 1.2 of the Euro Hockey League, where he was competing for Dutch champions HC Bloemendaal. ÔÇ£I've had a very good year with the Kookaburras who have been very successful. To get nominated again is a great honour.ÔÇØ
Dwyer was also hugely complimentary about the other players nominated for the award. ÔÇ£They are all very good players. Obviously Teun de Nooijer has been one of the best players in the world for the last 15 years, and Moritz F├╝rste (Germany) has had a great year for club and country. Barry (Middleton) always performs well for England and Seo (Jong Ho) has also had good year for Korea, so I am very honoured to be amongst them.ÔÇØ
The announcement for the FIH Player of the Year Award winners will be made on the evening of Friday 10 November 2010, at the Gala Dinner of the FIH Congress and Forum. Video profiles of the winners will be uploaded to You Tube on Monday.
