Please find below some quick facts of the Samsung Indoor World Cup.

Stadium:

  • The Samsung Indoor World Cup will be played in the Wiener Stadthalle on two pitches. There will be a capacity of 2'500 seats on the first pitch.

Promotion:

  • There is a media cooperation with 'Kurier', Austria's second-biggest newspaper. With the contract, they are obliged to do substantial coverage, including daily news as well as 4 feature stories. Kurier will also hold a sweepstakes where people can win event tickets
  • Around 75 journalists have already accredited for the event.
  • ORF, host broadcaster and Austria's national TV, will broadcast most Austrian matches (men and women) live (4 of each team's 5 pool matches plus semis and classification if one of the teams or both reach the final four) and the finals delayed (on Sunday evening).
  • The World Cup was extensively promoted within the Austrian hockey community through the 'Hockeynachrichten', the Federation's weekly publication that is read by the majority of Austrian hockey players and fans. Articles have been published increasingly more frequently since summer 2004, and for the past 2 months, there was a column with new info and the logo every week.
  • Special tournament posters were printed. They are posted in the Stadthalle, the other sports halls managed by the Stadthalle company, all sports venues managed by the city of Vienna, and in schools participating in the School Project, as well as individually by members of the hockey community in places like e.g. the city hall info counter, the 'Szene Wien', an event venue for concerts and comedians, and key meeting points of the Polish community such as the Polish church and community center.
  • The School Project went unexpectedly well - with promotion through the community (contacts in schools were the OC have worked before, through hockey playing kids in schools, and informal word-of-mouth recommendations) and registration through the event website.
  • Already more than 2'500 people have registered to attend the event on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (approx. 2'300 children and 200 teachers).

  • 3'000 tickets (various categories) have been sold through the regular Stadthalle ticketing system. This does not include:
    • a promotion for Austrian clubs and other federations that sold 220 season tickets as well as 200 daily tickets for various days (mostly final weekend).
    • tickets sold in the 'fan packages' offered through the website, combining accommodation and tickets (about 50 tickets)
    • The 2'500 people from the school program.
  • For Wednesday, the Austrian teams were given free tickets to invite friends who would not buy a ticket but come and watch if invited - at 10 tickets for each player and core staff members; this corresponds to 320 tickets in total.
