England Hockey has been shortlisted for the prestigious Governing Body of the Year Award, sponsored by the Daily Telegraph, as part of the Official Sport Industry Awards 2013.

45 key figures from across the industry decided on a list of nominees for the 15 award categories based on performance in the sports industry during 2012. Also nominated for the Governing Body of the Year Award are United Kingdom Athletics (UKA), British Cycling, British Horseracing Authority, British Olympic Association and Rugby Football League (RFL).

Sally Munday, Chief Executive of England Hockey, is over the moon with the announcement, “Being shortlisted for Governing Body of the year is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved with the sport of hockey.”

“With an extra 30,000 people picking up a stick last year, incredible support during London 2012 and a Hockey Nation programme which travelled the length and breadth of the country I think this is a fitting reflection of the contributions made by our fantastic volunteers and staff who have given so much during this period. Even to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award alongside the likes of British Cycling and the BOA is fantastic.”

A main judging panel will now decide the winners of each category which will be announced at the Sports Industry Awards ceremony on Wednesday 2nd May 2013.
