James Moorhouse has been awarded the prestigious England Hockey Challenge 2006 Young Umpire of the Year.
James, 17, joined the England Hockey National Young Umpire Development Programme as a 13-year-old Foundation Umpire in 2002. Earlier this year he was deservedly accredited at Level 2 and he is now keen to progress towards his Level 3 Umpire Award.
The trophy was presented to James at the National Youth Festival on Sunday, 14 May, by the 2005 champion, Emma Davey.
ÔÇ£The champion is chosen by the young umpires and the assessment is based on his or her on pitch performance and off pitch contribution to the team and to the event.
