The fourth and final meeting of the Executive Board of the European Hockey Federation for 2008 was held on 12 and 13 December, Prague, Czech Republic.

The Executive Board members during their stay participated in the Centenary celebrations of the Czech Hockey Federation under the leadership of their colleague and President of Czech Hockey Jan Vymazal.

The Board also had the opportunity of meeting with various Board members of the Czech Hockey Federation together with representatives from all their clubs and also players that participated in the Sliver Medal team from the Moscow Olympic Games.

  • The main points from the Executive Board meeting were: -
  • Leandro Negre, President of the International Hockey Federation attended the opening of the Board meeting and presented his final report as the EHF representative on the FIH Executive Board.
  • The Development Co-Ordination Committee under the Chair of Claire Peeters Monseu, assisted by Norman Hughes (EHF,CDO) held their annual review and the Committee chairs Anne Ellis, Coaches Committee, Gerry Ralph, Development Committee and Jorge Alcover, Umpires Committee presented their reports to the Executive Board.
  • The Executive Board approved a full and varied Development programme for 2009. Further details to follow on the EHF web site.
  • Receive reports from Appointments, Competitions, Finance, Developments and Marketing Committees.
  • Euro Hockey League:

The Board received a report from the EHLL Board Member Alistair Gray on the season 2007/08 together with details of the opening rounds for the season 2008/09.

  • 21st General Assembly:

The Board approved the theme 'Inspired by Values' as presented by the Marketing Committee.

It was noted that the 21st General Assembly will be hosted by the KNHB on Friday 21 August in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Full details will be circulated to the Member Associations in accordance with the EHF Statutes in due course.

  • Strategic Planning:

In view of the full review being undertaken by the FIH the Executive Board will await the outcome of this review before completing the Strategic Objectives for the Federation which will be presented to the Member Associations at the General Assembly in August 2009.

  • Umpire Development Project:

Jorge Alcover Chairman of the Umpires Committee reported on year 2 of this project. He informed the Board that a number of applications have been received from the Member Associations for Year 3. The Umpiring Committee are currently accessing the applications and the final list will be available on www.eurohockey.org. in due course.
