As teams continue to prepare for the 2014 Rabobank Hockey World Cup, the USA team have called on the services of Janneke Schopman, the former captain of the Dutch National Team.
The two-time Olympic medallist will serve as assistant coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team and head coach of the Under-21 Women's Team, working alongside the USA head coach Craig Parnham.
“I am thrilled to bring Janneke onto the coaching staff,” said Parnham. “She has tremendous hockey experience and I consider her to be one of the most talented female coaches in world hockey. She has an outstanding record as a player and her knowledge and experience extends into her coaching.”
Schopman was a part of the silver-medalist squad at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and a member of the gold-medallist squad in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Schopman also played on the Dutch squad that won gold at the 2006 Women’s Hockey World Cup and the Champions Trophy on three occasions in 2004, 2005 and 2007.
