Delhi Waveriders have moved back to the top of the points table in the Hero Hockey India League thanks to a stunning 6-4 away victory against Darbur Mumbai Magicians.
Oscar Deecke, Lloyd Norris-Jones, Danish Mujtaba, Akashdeep Singh, Andres Mir Bel and Simon Child were all scorers for the Waveriders in a match packed with excitement, incident and superb finishing. Sandeep Singh (2), Glenn Turner and Jason Wilson were on target for the hosts, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Magicians falling to their fourth successive defeat in the competition.
The result puts the Waveriders clear at the top of the league on 17 points, five points ahead of Uttar Pradesh Wizards, who have played one game less than the team from Delhi.
“Right now these boys don’t need coaching, they need management which I think is the plus point of our team” said AK Bansal, coach of the Delhi Waveriders. “We scored some really good field goals today now we are working hard on our penalty corners. That’s our main target ahead.”
