Scotland's men will be hoping to emulate their rugby counterparts when they travel to Bordeaux next week to take on France in a three match series.

The French will provide useful opposition for the Scots as they are currently ranked two places higher on the world stage.

The last time the two sides met was in the European Championships in Leipzig last summer where the French inflicted a 4-2 defeat on the Scotland squad during the group cross over matches.

Coach Mathias Ahrens views this as an important tour in the team's programme.

"Our games against France are always really close but they have been continuing their outdoor programme, including matches in Argentina, while we were competing indoor,ÔÇØ he said.

ÔÇ£Our indoor season gave us a great opportunity to work on different areas of our game and we are looking forward to putting them into practise against France. One of the major performance areas we will be working on during this trip is pressing and goal scoring.

"The players are in good form and the older members of the squad are taking responsibility for the new players on the team, which is working well."

The matches against France are the first in a series of three encounters the Scots have lined up ahead of the Commonwealth Games. A trip to Cairo follows four days later and the team will play host to Trinidad & Tobago at Peffermill at the end of the month.
