Australia rebounded to crush New Zealand 4-0 in the second match of the women's Oceania Cup with an imposing second half performance in Sydney.
The result ties the series at 1-1 with Saturday's final match to determine Oceania's automatic qualifier at next year's Samsung Hockey World Cup in Madrid.
Under enormous pressure after last weekend's rare loss to the Black Sticks in match one , Australia knew that a repeat of that result in match two would propel them into the unfamiliar territory of a series loss.
After a scoreless first 35 minutes, Australia broke the match open with a three-goal burst in an 11-minute stretch midway through the second half.
Madonna Blyth got the scoring started in the 46th minute before veteran Karen Smith added another field goal soon after to give the Hockeyroos a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Australia ended New Zealand's slim hopes of a late comeback with an Emily Halliday penalty corner with 13 minutes remaining before Angie Skirving added her name to the scoreboard near full time to a 4-0 result.
The emphatic win re-establishes the Hockeyroos' dominance over the Black Sticks and has them as clear favourites to wrap up the series on Saturday.
